PRACTICE 5: OPENING UP TO EMOTIONS
Today’s practice is about noticing and being open to emotions, including those we usually find unpleasant. Try to notice where in your body you feel these emotions.
This practise is also a skill that can help in times when emotions feel too big and get in the way. We’re not trying to change the emotion in any way, but rather create more space so that the emotions can “flow through” us, without us struggling against them. This is known as “expansion” as we are making room for the emotions.

What sort of emotions came up in the expansion exercise? How did they feel in your body?
What kind of emotions came up during your DMT journey? Were they familiar or not? How do you feel towards these emotions now?
To what extent do you feel like you processed these emotions fully during your DMT journey? Which emotions will need further processing?

What are some ways you typically process emotions? How may those show up in the coming weeks? Which of your emotion-driven behaviours are avoidant or harmful, and why?
How can you adopt more adaptive emotional responses? How can you best support yourself in processing these emotions?
